Hey everyone! In this review, I will show you what Gunny Juice can do with knife sharpening. Today is the day when all things end!
I get asked a lot of questions on Gunny Juice, and whether it will work fast enough or what kind of results to expect. With that, let us explore ahead.
So this is the knife here, I have a factory edge on it first. If it does, you will probably observe a couple of scratches on there and this is actually blade steel from 204P. The knife heel has not been sharpened.
I’m using a 3 Micron gunny Juice on belt for the test. I normally would use this at a slower speed because running it too fast can heat up the belt and blade. Today, though, I’ll start out at 1900 RPM
I apply the Gunny Juice to the knife, and am curious how refined I can get it. And but as I work you can see the blade is beginning to shine. The pressure is even and it’s cutting quickly enough that you can feel a burr.
A small glimpse of the progress. The blade is beginning to mirror polish on the side I have been working. Obvoiusly, it is much shinier than the factory edge.
I have done a lot more work on one side compared to the other so its not as smooth yet but it works. Diamond and powder are still collecting, but that of course is what it shoul be.
So, I am not forcing too much on it, giving a bit of pressure. And you can also observe that the edge is true in a couple of minutes.
Finally, I will sand at 3450 rpm to finalize the finish. This should remove the last of your scratches, and provide a finer polish.
So, to sum this up, Gunny Juice is wicked effective and sands MUCH faster than most old stone hones. Well that does not cut as deep but it is faster. A few minutes in and you can see a difference, the shine is significantly better. Click this link to read about Poly diamond emulsion v/s Gunny Juice emulsion.
