What is the difference between Leather, Kangaroo, and Nanocloth strops?
Leather Strops (Cowhide): Traditional and affordable. Slightly compressible, good for general-purpose polishing. Kangaroo Strops: Thinner, firmer, and more durable than cowhide. Offers better control and less rounding of the edge. Nanocloth Strops: Non-organic microfiber material that provides maximum consistency and minimal compression, ideal for high-grit emulsions and advanced polishing.
Are these strops compatible with all Wicked Edge systems?
Yes. All WEPS strops (Nanocloth, Kangaroo, and Leather) come mounted on Wicked Edge paddles, fully compatible with any Wicked Edge system like WE100, WE130, Gen 3, and Pro-Packs.
Do I need to apply compound or emulsion to these strops?
Yes. These strops are designed to be used with diamond emulsions, sprays, or pastes, typically in grit sizes like 4µ, 1µ, 0.5µ, or 0.1µ. The compound does the actual polishing, while the strop serves as the carrier surface.
Which strop material lasts the longest?
Nanocloth strops typically have the longest lifespan, especially when used with care. Kangaroo is also highly durable, while cowhide leather may wear more quickly over time or if used too aggressively.
