Wicked Edge Stone Pack – Chosera 400-600 Grit . The 400/600 Grit Chosera water stone pack for the Wicked Edge sharpener is a soft/hard steel coarse grit setup. Both serve the same basic coarse grit stone function of cleanup, profiling, repairs, and maintenance, but the grits can be better dialed in to to use a specific grit for harder steels and softer steels before moving on to finer grit stones. Stones are approx 5 – 5.5mm thick and come mounted to standard Wicked Edge style paddles. Stones are used with water only.
400 Grit Chosera is a coarse stone that can be used to clean up scratches from earlier grits and diamond plates, do repairs and profiling, as well as for quick touching up and maintenance. The relative hardness of the 400 makes it slightly more favorable for softer steels, like most German chef knives such as Wusthof, Henkels and Victorinox (steel type X50CrMoV15 and the equivalent).
600 Grit Chosera is also a coarse stone that can be used to clean up scratches from earlier grits and diamond plates, do repairs and profiling, as well as for quick touching up and maintenance. The relative softness of the 600 makes it slightly more favorable for harder steels, and excels with blades made from Japanese Hitachi White and Blue steels, and single bevel Deba and Yanagi style blades.
Chosera stones do wear, and we recommend using a glass lapping plate or a diamond lapping plate to maintain the stones flatness over time. Due to the varying stone thicknesses over time and use, we also recommend using the WE Paddle Non-Magnetic Stone Adapter to guarantee accurate angles. All Wicked Edge stone pack paddles are compatible with the Rack-Its custom Wicked Edge Paddle Stands.
