Sharpening tips: Loading a Jende Nanocloth Strop

Tom Blodgett from jendeIndustries.com shares valuable insights on optimising the performance of Jende Nanocloth strops. When initially loading these strops, it’s recommended to apply a slightly increased amount of diamond emulsion to saturate the honeycomb column structure effectively. Ensuring an even spread of the Jende Poly Diamond Emulsion allows you to witness its swift absorption into the nanocloth. For subsequent reloads, considerably less emulsion suffices to replenish the columns. Moreover, cleaning the Nanocloth with water before reloading is an option. To maintain optimal functionality, allow the strops ample drying time, preferably several hours or overnight, and always ensure they are dry before use.

The available strops, including the Jende Nanocloth Ultra in sizes of 1×4″, 1×6″, 2×6″, and 210x70mm, offer versatility for various sharpening needs. Complementing these strops, the Jende Poly Diamond Emulsion in 0.25 micron (equivalent to 60,000 grit) facilitates precise and refined sharpening processes.

Tom emphasizes the importance of precision when loading the Nanocloth strops. Initially filling the honeycomb structure thoroughly with diamond emulsion accelerates the absorption process, ensuring efficient performance. Subsequent reloads demand significantly less emulsion, maintaining the strops’ efficacy. Furthermore, the option to cleanse the Nanocloth with water before reloading enhances its longevity. To optimize results, allowing the strops to air dry for a substantial period, ideally overnight, is recommended. Always ensure the strops are completely dry before utilizing them for sharpening tasks.
