“The first video introduces the 1,500 grit Shapton Pro 1″ x 6″ stone, mounted on an aluminum base for enhanced stability. Stored dry in a sheath, the stone simply requires a quick splash of water before use. Demonstrating with the Oboes.Ch Swiss Star Reed beveled reed knife, Tom Blodgett of Jende Industries, LLC illustrates how to properly utilize the stone to rejuvenate an edge that is dull but otherwise in good condition.”
“The second video addresses the need to accommodate for any rounding by using a permanent marker along the edge. Typically, older single bevel reed knives develop some level of rounding due to sharpening or stone wear over time. When refining the edge, the goal is to remove the marker from the blade’s edge. However, if using the travel stone on an older reed knife fails to remove the ink when the blade is placed flat on the stone, it’s advisable to slightly elevate the blade off the stone to abrade the actual edge.”
“This stone is suitable for hollow ground knives and reed knives of various makes. Enjoy the demonstrations!”
