The FN Big series is a collaboration between Jende and Master Kuo to make some seriously large fish knives. The FN BIg G-5 is the same spec as the regular G5 knives we offer, only these are hand forged from spring steel, and have a more rugged, rustic, and all around more manly look.  Also known as the Taiwan Tuna Knife, the FN Big G-5 Large Fish Knife is designed for cutting the heads off of large fish, and for cutting the body into steaks. It is used by pushing the heel of the blade into the fish and then rolling the blade forward to finish the cut. Of course it can whack or hammer its way as well. This is one serious knife!

This FN Big G5 Large Fish knife, also referred to as a maguro kiri in Japanese, is hand forged by Master Kuo from spring steel and has a RC hardness of 60-61. The black scale from the forge forms a natural protective coating that keeps the blade from rusting, and looks pretty cool, too.

Dimensions: Blade Length: 200mm / 8" Blade Height: 120mm / 4.75" Overall Length: 305mm / 12" Spine thickness: 4.5mm / 0.18" Weight: 525g / 18.5oz

Knife care: Keep clean with warm water and soap. Towel dry immediately. Do not put into dishwasher. The edge steel can show signs of surface rust over time. Most surface rust can be removed by sharpening the edge or using a scotchbrite pad.

Master Kuo knives are some of the sharpest factory sharp knives we've ever seen, but they are capable of even more after our professional sharpening services. You can choose how sharp you'd like your knife from the dropdown menu above. We recommend the 2000 and 5000 Grit services for this knife.

Kuo Chang-Shi is most famous for forging the original Green Sword of Destiny from the 2000 movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". His Damascus steel designs incorporate human bones and ashes to imbibe the spirit into the piece, as well as to add some elemental strength to the steel (such as manganese and phosphorus), which is based on historical accounts in ancient Chinese sword making.
