The 1x6 Naniwa Chosera 1K Grit stone is one of the most versatile and essential stones on the market. It is a keystone grit used for initial maintenance and light repairs on your edges, as well as for lighter profiling. It leaves a standard and functional work sharp edge that is acceptable for almost any knife or tool. This stone also cleans up deeper factory scratches, makes transitioning from diamond plates and stones easier and cleaner, and is a good foundation stone before progressing to finer grits.

The 1" x 6" x 5mm is mounted to a standard steel blank and is compatible with the Jende JIGS for Knives, Edge Pro, Hapstone and TSProf sharpeners. Abrasive Material: Aluminum Oxide

Ideal place in a sharpening progression:

-- Starting grit for basic maintenance and light repairs
-- After lower grit sharpening stones (120 - 800 grit)
-- After coarse belt grinder grits (80, 100, 120, 220, A65, A30 Trizact grit)
-- Before progressing to a finer and/or medium grit stone (2K - 5K grit)
-- As a final basic working sharp edge.

Hacks and Tips:

-- For a more aggressive stone, create a slurry by rubbing the stone’s surface with a smaller 1K Chosera stone, or a coarse or extra coarse diamond plate and some water. The slurry will be creamy green.
-- Use a moderate amount of water when sharpening. A cleaner surface will cut faster than a thicker pasted one.
-- If using this stone as a final grit, keep the black swarf viscous and it will produce a slightly more refined edge.
-- Lap this stone with a coarse or extra coarse diamond plate, silicon carbide (SiC) powder, Jende Glass Lapping Plate, or low grit wet dry sand paper to keep it consistently flat and clean.
