The 3/4″ thick acrylic offers a light, sturdy, and consistently flat surface for your sharpening needs, and once the films are adhered to the acrylic, your knife and tool sharpening will respond just as any Waterstone or diamond plate would of the same size.

I picked up the Jende 2×6 Acrylic Lapping Film Blank to use with my sharpening films, and it’s been great so far. The acrylic feels solid and perfectly flat, which makes a big difference when you’re chasing that fine, polished edge. Films stick down nicely without bubbles, and cleanup is easy. It’s lightweight but doesn’t feel cheap, and the size works well for most of my knives and tools. Honestly, it’s one of those simple pieces of gear that just does its job really well. Definitely worth it if you’re into precision sharpening.
